Divemaster
Take The First Step To Never Working A Day In Your Life
The PADI Divemaster course is for everyone who loves diving. It’s an essential step for anyone looking to make that career change to become a PADI Instructor. But plenty of divers take it simply for the love of it — to become better, learn more about the underwater world or simply move to the beach in Indonesia, meet new friends, and have an unforgettable diving adventure. And honestly, there’s nothing wrong with that.
The course is designed to last 4–8 weeks. A month is enough to earn your certification and gain solid experience, but if you can stay longer, the more diving and real-world practice you’ll get. We like our Divemasters to make Blue Marlin their home — and we’re happy if you stick around for as long as you like.
Elevate your diving skills and take the first step towards a professional diving career with our Divemaster Course.
Duration: 4 - 8+ Weeks
Dives: Unlimited during your course (normally 60-100+)
Age: 18+
What Do I Need To Start?
To start your PADI Divemaster course, you’ll need to be at least 18 years old, a certified PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent), have a valid EFR within the last 24 months, and around 40 logged dives under your belt — you’ll need 60 to finish.
If you’re not quite there yet, don’t worry. You can complete your Advanced, EFR, and Rescue with us first and roll straight into your Divemaster training once you’re ready. And if you’re just short on dives before starting, you’re welcome to fun dive with us until you reach the required number — it’s the perfect warm-up before the real adventure begins.
What Will My Training Consist Of?
Once you’re on the program, it’s full immersion from day one. You’ll be part of the Blue Marlin crew — jumping on boats, assisting real students, and experiencing what life’s actually like as a dive professional. It’s hands-on, it’s social, and it’s seriously fun. Expect early mornings, long days in the water, plenty of laughs, and that feeling of getting better every single dive.
You’ll help instructors run PADI courses, brief and guide certified divers, and fine-tune your own diving until it feels effortless. Along the way, you’ll get to grips with everything from dive planning and navigation to search and recovery and group management. You’ll also take part in workshops, theory sessions, and skill circuits that bring your training together — all with the support of our instructor team and your fellow DMTs.
And when it’s all done? You’ll celebrate the Blue Marlin way — with our legendary Snorkel Test 🎉
Why Train With Blue Marlin?

A True PADI 5-Star IDC Resort
We’re not just a dive centre — we’re a full training resort, home to multiple PADI Platinum Course Directors and a team of experienced instructors.
This means you’ll train in a professional environment that mirrors what it’s like to work in the dive industry for real — not just roleplay scenarios.
Real Courses, Real Students
Our Divemaster candidates assist on actual PADI courses every day: from Discover Scuba Diving to Rescue Diver and beyond.
You’ll gain the kind of experience employers are looking for — guiding, assisting, briefing, demonstrating, and problem-solving under real conditions in a thriving Dive Centre.
World-Class Training Environment
All of our dive sites are within 10 minutes by boat, with warm water (27–29°C) and excellent visibility (20–30m+).
You’ll train in conditions that range from calm coral reefs to exhilarating drift dives, developing confidence in all types of underwater environments.
Unmatched Instructor Team
You’ll be mentored by a team of full-time instructors and Course Directors who have trained thousands of professionals across the world.
Their mentorship ensures you’re not just “completing” your Divemaster — you’re becoming employable in the global dive industry.
Flexible Duration
We recommend a minimum of four weeks, but you’re welcome to stay longer and gain additional experience.
Many candidates extend their training to assist on more courses, log extra dives, and build confidence.
Unlimited Diving
As a Divemaster Trainee, you’ll have unlimited diving throughout your course and after. The more time you spend underwater, the better — and we encourage it.
Dive and Stay
Stay in our on-site accommodation just steps from the dive centre. Choose from pool-view rooms or shared options for long-term trainees — breakfast included.
Become Part of the Blue Marlin Family
Blue Marlin is more than just a dive centre — it’s a community. Between our famous Monday Madness parties, island events, and team spirit, you’ll make lifelong friends from all over the world.
The Divemaster course is always voted everyone’s favourite — it’s not just about training, it’s about bonding with your island crew, sharing dives, and going out to enjoy everything Gili T has to offer together. It’s a course filled with laughs, friendships, and unforgettable moments both underwater and on land.
